Does Glutathione Have An Odor?
Sep 18, 2025| The taste of glutathione is different from that of silver cleaning solution.
Glutathione is a tripeptide compound composed of glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine. It has a distinctive odor, primarily derived from the sulfhydryl group in its structure, often described as similar to rotten eggs. Glutathione solutions are also acidic, resulting in a sour taste. However, when glutathione lozenges are made, flavorings are often added to improve the taste, ensuring a refreshing, less bitter or astringent taste.
Silver cleaning solutions, whether professional or popular online homemade recipes (such as those made with tin foil, toothpaste, salt, dishwashing liquid, vinegar, and hot water), have distinct ingredients and uses from glutathione. Silver cleaning solutions are primarily used to clean and maintain silverware. While their flavor may vary depending on the ingredients, they generally differ from the characteristic odor and sour taste of glutathione.
Therefore, there is a clear difference between glutathione and silver cleaning water in terms of smell and taste.
